The installer's job at Muzéo

Exploring the issues, challenges and achievements in the world of Artistic Installation

Defining the job of fitter

The job of installer is a demanding manual profession that requires autonomy, rigour and precision. The job of a Muzéo installer consists of installing the turnkey product designed by the creative team and manufactured by the Muzéo workshops in France. Muzéo installers install original framed works on walls, as well as more complex installations such as huge frescoes.

The Muzéo fitters have a real role in the installation, display and enhancement of spaces, works of art and finished products, while the installation managers ensure the organisation and efficiency of the teams.

The fitter is a specialist craftsman responsible for installing a range of products, from floor coverings to technical equipment. He performs precise technical gestures, requiring meticulous attention and great precision, and must be technically prepared to overcome all the problems of a worksite. Every move made by a fitter contributes to guaranteeing the quality of the work of art and the finished project. They need to have a certain amount of technical experience, as they are likely to be installing a multitude of different products on the same job: works of art, on the floor or wall, installations, wallpaper, coated canvas, paintings, adhesives, sculptures, monumental works, work at height, etc. One of the special features of this job is an interest in art. This is a very important quality, as it enables the installer to have an aesthetic and expert eye, particularly in the artistic field, on the installation of works of art in certain spaces, the composition of paintings, etc.

The Installation Manager is responsible for organising and coordinating the installation teams. They plan the resources needed to complete a project and a space, ensure that deadlines are met, and ensure effective communication between the parties involved. These two functions complement each other and play a central role in installation, helping to ensure that construction, renovation and interior design projects are carried out to the highest possible quality.

The specific nature of the installer's job at Muzéo

What makes the Muzéo installer's job so special is his versatility and ability to respond to a wide range of artistic and decorative projects. In the same week, they can install a picture frame in a palace, then paste more than 300m² of wallpaper in difficult site conditions, then leave for another country to install a work by an artist spotted in a gallery by our art curator. Muzéo installers are required to install a wide range of products, going far beyond simply hanging paintings.

The installer is the last link in the Muzéo chain to come into contact with the customer. He must therefore ensure that the installation and the quality of the works offered by Muzéo are in line with the vision that the customer had. The installer must therefore deal with the architectural particularities of each location, to ensure that the works and artistic installations are displayed to their best advantage.

In addition, Muzéo installers are qualified to install specific products that Muzéo produces, so the installer must be curious so that Muzéo is always at the forefront of each new installation technique.

What makes the Muzéo installer's job so special is his ability to juggle a wide variety of artistic and decorative products, while meeting sometimes tight deadlines and overcoming any unforeseen circumstances, thereby guaranteeing customer satisfaction and enhancing spaces.

The challenges of the business

The challenges for customers

Muzéo installers attach the utmost importance to customer satisfaction, seeing it as a key issue throughout the project. This includes strict adherence to deadlines and exemplary responsiveness when carrying out the work. They bring with them a product and leave behind an image and an atmosphere, making courtesy an essential quality sought after in Muzéo fitters. At Muzéo, we are committed to being as close as possible to the customer's needs, and the installer is an essential link in this chain.

Muzéo has carried out several projects where customer satisfaction has been such that we continue to work with them on a regular basis. The quality of our work has created a lasting relationship with Muzéo customers, demonstrating our commitment to exceptional service.

Testimonial

Simon, former fitter at Muzéo, now production manager

One of the projects that stands out in my memory was the installation of the decor for the prestigious ZILLI boutique at the PENINSULA in Paris. What sometimes makes this job so captivating is that most people only see a finished décor, without realising the amount of work that went into creating it. This is exactly what happened with this artistic installation. The major complexity lay in the fact that the site's status as a listed monument meant that it had to be neither glued nor drilled.

To meet this colossal challenge, we had to design a metal structure, a field far removed from the craft of framing, and devise the entire installation using magnets. The imposing dimensions of the artwork (8m x 3m50 high) added a further layer of complexity, requiring delicate handling of the printed panels. The final challenge was to integrate a television into the set.

This is how the demanding job of a Muzéo installer takes shape. Installation is a meticulous symphony in which every note and every detail contributes to creating a work of art that lasts throughout its installation.

Your job in a few words: Precision and adaptation.
