Creating a unique customer experience

A strategic challenge for hotels: art and culture serve this purpose

Proposing and creating artistic content for a hotel is a magnificent challenge, the ultimate aim of which is to maximise the customer experience and reinforce the hotel's identity and uniqueness, making it a unique place.

At Muzéo, we are convinced that one of the keys is above all to create meaning. We are very keen to put in place a coherent artistic concept, with an effective narrative dimension that can be applied to all the spaces treated. The idea is to produce a positive emotion, a generosity that will raise the customer's awareness. The artistic content proposed will help to strengthen customer loyalty, increase brand awareness and improve the site's visibility and appeal.

The challenge of artistic expression in a hotel is to strike a balance between identity, functionality and budget.

The artistic design of a hotel presents a number of challenges, in order to create an environment that is aligned with the hotel's brand/name, with an overall design that provides a coherent emotional dimension to the customer experience, a unique aesthetic and a functional whole that will respond to the challenges of traffic and frequentation, to a greater or lesser degree depending on the spaces treated.

1° First of all, the personality and identity that the hotel wishes to give itself must be addressed. The identity of the brand, the theme, the site, the architecture of the building and its interior design are essential criteria to integrate in order to provide an artistic response that will reinforce and enrich the message.

2° Next, the functionality of the whole must be taken into account. The works of art must be placed in places that allow traffic to pass through, while being protected so that they last, can be easily maintained, and reinforce the visual impact they produce. They must also comply with safety standards, particularly those relating to flammable products. These aspects often require considerable thought to be given to the supports used and the methods of attachment.

3° Once these elements have been integrated, Muzéo will propose an artistic concept that will be used in the various spaces to create a generous customer experience. The curation, creation and scenography of the artistic works will be at the service of the chosen theme, with a certain bias. It is common to work with local artists who reinforce the hotel's culture and identity. The approach can also incorporate environmental or social criteria.

4° Budgetary considerations are essential. Works of art can be expensive; acquiring intellectual property rights, choosing the media, their size, number and hanging solutions all have a major impact on the budget. It is therefore necessary to work with this constraint as early as possible to ensure that responses are appropriate.

5° This work is the fruit of close collaboration with the owner/operator of the hotel, the architects and designers, so that the overall coherence is effective.

6° Finally, in order to meet these challenges, it is necessary to integrate a robust project management system that will plan and schedule the purchases, protection, deliveries and installations that will enable these magnificent works of art to arrive and be installed at the right time and in the right conditions.
